About us

Our team brings decades of software engineering, process improvement and CMMI appraisal experience from the Army's CECOM Software Engineering Center and commercial and defense programs.

Paul Riviere

Computer Scientist and Partner
NxGen Process Group, Official CMMI Institute Partner

  • Led the SEC nationwide software development improvement effort.
  • Led a team of forty software engineers and scientists who implemented CMMI at CECOM SEC.
  • Responsible for the transition from a funding-centric firm to a software and systems project-centric organization.
  • Organized the SEC CMMI Technical Working Groups (TWG) and Integrated Process Teams (IPT).
  • Introduced new and improved software and systems engineering processes that enabled SEC to exceed critical SEC, customer and SEI standards and nearly double its funding (from $500 million to over $1 billion).
  • Presented project status, progress and budget to the Director of SEC and upper management.
  • Organized and managed multiple software development projects through the full development cycle to operational status.
  • Served as the SEC corporate QA monitoring, control and automated data system software lead.
  • As a member of Source Selection Evaluation Boards (SSEBs), performed detailed software proposal technical evaluations and software capability risk evaluations.

Robert Uic

Computer Engineer
Formerly CECOM LCMC Software Engineering Center (SEC)

  • Chief strategic planner. Expert in assessing and evaluating software-intensive system products and services across the SEC enterprise for SEC's Director and Army and DoD executives and leaders. Empowered to direct, lead and perform complex enterprise-level software and systems engineering analysis on battlespace and business systems, service-oriented architectures, software product lines, and advanced software and software engineering technologies. Assessed software product architectures for compliance with Army, inter-service and allied operational requirements and critical quality attributes such as maintainability, reusability, supportability and testability. Defined product and process measurements to show progress during a product's development or sustainment life cycle.
  • Conducted and led experimental and investigative efforts to develop evaluation technologies that quantify the cost of post-production software sustainment support. Investigated and documented the cost estimation methodologies used by SEC and other software organizations. Developed an approach to identify current and emerging technical and business drivers that affect the sustainment cost of SEC-maintained systems, and identified cost driver characteristics such as networked interfaces, information exchanges, vulnerability and fielded systems. Validated costs using in-house data from existing planning documents and cost reports. Created a new layered view of software cost drivers focused on resources and synergistic factors unique to AMC software centers, and a model to identify cross-functional business development opportunities using SEC capabilities and services.
  • Developed improvement strategies using Lean Six Sigma and Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) for implementation across the SEC enterprise, and determined the two could be used in a complementary manner for optimum benefit. Recommended a detailed evaluation of the Lean Six Sigma methods and tools that best complement a software organization using CMMI.

Joseph J. Grant

Systems Engineer

  • Conducted systems, software and hardware engineering, project management and process improvement consulting for commercial and defense companies, with extensive hands-on experience using the Software Engineering Institute's (SEI) process improvement models.
  • Conducted CMMI Benchmark appraisals, including appraisals in classified environments requiring special clearances.
  • Expert in web page design, graphics and logo design, and web maintenance. Developed highly complex, interactive, database-driven web applications for employment applications, screening and personnel management, along with advanced interactive forms, user interface standards, wireframes, mockups and prototypes.
